In the marvelous book “Heirloom Knitting” is a stitch pattern called “Spiderlings” and after much patient working and frogging, I have it down. Mostly.

Said pattern is part of my Sampler Stole, and is finished on Stole Version One, and in progress on Version Two. A little more frogging is first, if I recall correctly, then more spiderlings to complete the segment.

Pictures to follow.

Now we are halfway through June, and I have nothing to tell you about new patterns for lace projects. Sorry. Still hoping: a website for a new store takes _ a lot_ of time.

In the meantime, I am trying to decide on a pattern to show the differences between the two black and white lace yarns I have in the store. It’s hard to choose, plus do I have the patience to actually knit two of anything? I think so, but I may have to invent a sampler.

Also, I am out of rainbow lace weight. I will wait a bit to reorder, as I hope to get more of several things.

The month of June has traditionally been a good one for yarn sales. Perhaps it’s the summer looming before us, and we’re happy to get a new project all ready to go.

Keep an eye on the new black and white lace yarns, XEC and XEOC, as I’m expecting some new patterns for them, on a new website.

These two yarns are very similar (one of them changes color faster than the other). So similar that I want to make something from each to prove they are different, I just can’t settle on a pattern. I’ll look at Knitty and see what is to be found.

Gail’s Yarns, Hooks, and Needles is stocked up with lots of black and white lace weight yarn, and replenished with Rainbow fingering weight, in order to be ready for new designs coming out in late spring/early summer. It’s a new website, with new patterns for Kauni yarn. Not my website, so I can’t say for sure, but they are aiming for June. I can’t wait to see what has been done with the Kauni yarn, and I’m sure there’s lots more to admire (and buy!).

Today is delivered a box of yarn from Kauni. More Rainbow, which is ROYGBIV just like you learned in Biology class; and more EC which is dark gray, medium gray, light gray, and back again.

Now also there is lace in the Rainbow colorway – again in huge hanks. And lace in the EC colorway, actually TWO colorways of EC in lace, one changes colors more quickly. They both arrived in the cutest little skeins of 50 grams you ever saw!

In the center is a comparison of the usual 150 gram Kauni ball with the new little 50 gram balls. The three small balls weigh the same as one large one, but there is more yardage in the small balls because they are lace.
