I just finished listening to Mary Cary, Frequently Martha, and I highly recommend it!

There are lists on the side panel for noting the books I read, but this one is special and deserves special mention. It’s a great story, I’ve never read anything quite like it; written by Kate Langley Bosher and published about 1910. It gets an extremely good reading by Jan MacGillivray. I am still gushing.

Just so you know, the story is told from the viewpoint of a twelve year old girl who lives in an orphanage, but the story is about the girl herself, and how she finds out who she is, and … I need to stop before I spill the whole thing! There’s a great summary on the Librivox page.

I don’t write. Well, not really.  But I enjoy an expert talking about the things that interest them, and it helps that I can usually follow the language writers use.

19 Nocturne Boulevard introduced me to the enneagram as a writing tool in Episode 2. I’ve never heard of enneagrams, so I was surprised. But searching for web sites just now was even more surprising because the Enneagram is meant for identifying your personality type. However, I really like this alternate way of looking at it, where it helps a writer flesh out his/her characters, especially the difficult characters, the ones that don’t resonate with the author. The descriptions can get quite detailed.

19 Nocturne Boulevard focuses on horror, but so far I am hearing good advice for any author, particularly those interested in podcasting.

Hm, better pass this on the the Podiobooks community, there’s always lots of podcasting questions there.

By the way, if you are an Enneagram Expert,  Wikipedia needs you.

Just now I listed two skeins of blue Kauni on eBay, as an auction, starting price $9. Buy it Now price, $18, just like the store. I can’t link to my store on eBay, but I say it used to be on eBay, which it did. People can do a web search if they are interested in more Kauni.

KauniMidBlueEdited to add: this Kauni is gone! Whoosh! However there are still 200 grams (one skein, one ball) in my store, Gail’s Yarns, Hooks, and Needles, link in the side bar.

The Clue of the Twisted Candle is a title I’ve just listened to this weekend. I enjoyed the readers, of which there are several, and decided to share. The novel was written by Edgar Wallace sometime before 1932.

From the Librivox page you can: download the audio version for your MP3 player; listen from your computer; download the written version and read it on your computer monitor; or read the written version from your computer. This is true of all the Librivox books I have seen.

No, sorry, I’m not offering one – I wish I were so talented! but if you know of one to recommend, I’d be interested.

I have half a ball of Kauni lace in the Rainbow colorway to use, and maybe there’s a pattern you’d like to see made from that yarn.

The other half made a Laminaria, which was a free pattern from Knitty, and I was quite happy with the results, so I thought maybe there’s another free pattern to love. Put a comment here, or at the store.
